Unfortunately, Waterside Counselling only sees people by appointment and we do not have a crisis or drop-in service.

If you need urgent help or support for yourself or someone close to you, please contact one of the following agencies in the first instance:


Samaritans: 116 123 – 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Saneline: 0300 304 7000 – 4.30 pm till 10 pm, offering support and information for anyone coping with or caring for someone with mental health issues.

Breathing Space: 0800 83 85 87 – every day of year from 6 pm till 2 am. A service aimed at individuals experiencing low mood or depression.

Childline: 0800 11 11 - Help and support line for children or any child related issues.

Drinkline: 0800 731 4314 - Advice and information line about alcohol.

Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0808 200 0247 - National 24 hour helpline.

First Crisis: 0141 848 9090 or Freephone 0800 221 8929 - 9 am till 8 pm and weekend 9 am till 5 pm offering support to those experiencing a crisis in their mental health.

Hope Line UK: 0800 068 4141 - Offer support and advice to young people at risk of harming themselves.

Rape Crisis Scotland: 0808 801 0302 - Advice and support for survivors of sexual violence.

There are a number of other agencies offering counselling in and around the Renfrewshire area to which you can self-refer.  Most of these will also have waiting lists and each have different eligibility criteria, ways of working and costs.

Talk it Over Group:  0141 889 7654 - Postnatal Depression Group meets Tuesdays 10 am till 12 noon.

Time 4U: 0141 587 3378 - one-to-one counselling service for West College Scotland students.

UWS Student Counselling Service: 0141 848 3800 - one-to-one counselling for students of the University of the West of Scotland

Victim Support Renfrewshire: 0141 887 0328 - offers emotional support and practical help to victims of crime.
